1. About Politics Revisited

In Politics Revisited, you start out as a member of the House of Representatives. As the game goes on, there will be many opportunities to seek higher office including but not limited to the Senate, state Governor, and President. The game will simulate the many day-to-day areas that are vital aspects of the American political system including debating and voting on legislation in Congress, running for political office, media interaction, spin wars, etc. Some aspects of the game are a throwback to the Wild West days "polisimming" where freedom was emphasized and things were taken just a bit less seriously, while other parts embrace the idea of a no-cost board and a low stakes game being the ideal environment to act as a sandbox for new ideas and innovations which may not always work but are always worth a shot. One of the most defining characteristics of the game is that no round is permitted to be reset prior to reaching 8 years in the game's calendar, and that there will be no soft-reboots in between ensuring a deep and likely often ridiculous and fun IG history which will be frequently documented along a timeline.

2. Decorum

This is a game, it is meant to be a fun hobby you dabble with in your free time, not some life or death situation or a drama simulator. We are always gonna be pretty laissez faire when it comes to content and language to a certain extent, because there's no reason to hide who you are in a community of friends. However, there are certain limits any community needs to in order to function, and the following is a list of stuff that's bound to earn you consideration for a warning, a suspension, and even a ban in the worst cases:

-Harassment or Targeting: There's a reason why discussion of politics is often considered a social faux pa among the civilized, it naturally leads to heated discussion and strong disagreements and that simply can't be helped. However we expect all of our players treat one another with respect and dignity, and to separate the out-of-character from the game. Some examples of this include: letting a argument either IC or OOC devolve to the point of cursing one another out or blatantly insulting each other, initiating unwanted arguments one-on-one either through PM or through a messaging app, attempting to bait another player into an overreaction in an OOC setting, etc.

-Racism, Bigotry, Homophobia: People have their political, philosophical, and religious beliefs and that's totally fine. Likewise, a political simulation is naturally going to lead people who play certain ideologies where some unsavory beliefs are inherent which in an IC situation is acceptable. However PR is an inclusive community that welcomes all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity and the use of slurs, offensive stereotyping, demeaning implication, or
proselytizing to attack any person or group simply will not be tolerated under any circumstance.

-Pornography, Nudity, and Adult Content: It is assumed that if you are a denizen of the modern day internet, you can handle a bad word or a racy joke or saucy GIF. However, some members of our community may be under the age of 18 and there's a good chance that even those who are adults aren't particularly in what they can find for themselves elsewhere being mixed into their polisimming experience, so the posting of pornographic material or images/videos/GIFs which contain explicit nudity or unsimulated gore are expressly forbidden and a good way to earn a permaban.

-Doxxing: The broad government and political simulation community has only grown more insular and intertwined over the years, and there are so many of us who have come to know each other just as well OOC or in RL as we do within the games which (with mutual consent of both parties, of course) we absolutely encourage. However, we will not tolerate the sharing of personal information without consent of the person involved including real name, social media information, IP addresses, photographs and videos, conversations of a personal matter not meant for public consumption.

-Spamming, Metagaming, Manipulation: The inherent imperfection of many messaging apps and forums like our own can cause many problems in any time of community and/or game, but ones like this in particular tend to automatically attract a machiavellian element. IC, obviously this is not at all discouraged, but when when the OOC is used to twist the IC for the benefit of a specific outcome we have to draw the line. Examples of this include: attacking somebody IC who is on a previously declared leave of absence in the game, editing posts to change their content outside of the permitted limits, selectively editing conversations that occur on Telegram or any other messaging app to create a false or skewed narrative.

3. Administrative Structure and Code of Ethics.

While of returning to a more fun and playful environment within the context of polisimming also extends to our Demi-Gods (Administrators), who are openly encouraged to freely engage with the player base and express who they are as people, we understand that the best way to keep drama out of a community starts at ensuring it is led by example. As such, at all times we will have a set structure and a code of ethics under which we operate.

-Administrative Structure:

The Owner
The owner of the game is tasked with maintaining the smooth operation of the board and the Telegram main chat, hiring the Chief of the Demi-Gods and ensuring his compliance with the Administrative Code of Ethics, ensuring smooth transitions between Administrative turnovers and the rare game resets including in rare situations being willing to temporarily step into the role of The Chief between terms or resets if no Deputy is willing or capable of doing so but is limited to serving no longer than 1 year in the game calendar in such a dual role. While the owner may serve in a lower Demi-God role as deemed necessary at the discretion of the sitting Chief at any point, doing so temporarily forfeits their ability to hire or fire The Chief or any other Demi-God during the period in which they act as an equal, with such power reverting to collected committee of players holding leadership positions.

*Note: While it is understandable that some players are likely to be uncomfortable with the idea of the Owner also serving as The Chief or as a member of the Demi-Gods at times, the nature of a free-board sandbox game designed to absolutely limit resets to the bare minimum and lean into its ever growing history no matter how complicated or ridiculous means that sometimes there must be ways to maintain a continuity of duties throughout the inevitable down cycles found in such a game*

The Chief
The Chief of the Demi-Gods is the person who charged with maintaining the day-to-day operations of Politics Revisted. Often times they among the most experienced people within the community, with a wide base of knowledge that allows for them to oversee all of the various elements of the game and step-in if necessary. They will be charged with hiring and firing power of other Demi-Gods, may expand the Administrative roles available (but may not reduce them), is expected to ensure all major aspects of the game are functional and is often the most powerful voice in setting the direction of the game. The Chief is also the only Administrative position which is subject to term limits, with no Chief being allowed to serve longer than two years in the IG calendar at one time. At times when The Chief is on leave of absence from their duties, the most senior member of their deputies shall step in (or if unable, the next senior and so forth) to effective adopt these powers until such a time when they can return.

Demi-God of Media and Scenarios
This position is tasked with maintaining regular media coverage of IG events on the national and international scale, taking the lead on developing interactive scenarios for members of the legislative and/or executive branches, and providing grading and oversight for player-run media companies or shows. While, at the discretion of The Chief, any player may contribute to news coverage or scenario development, maintaining a consistency of tone and continuity between them is tasked specifically to this position.

Demi-God of Roleplaying and Simulation

This position is one tasked to somebody who typically has a deep knowledge of actual politicians, world leaders/events, political demographics, parliamentary procedure and flair for the dramatic. Their primary duties include taking the lead in any roleplaying situations in which a NPC needs to be portrayed, maintaining the systems used to calculate votes in the House and Senate, serving as Parliamentarian or temporary presiding officer in the House or Senate when necessary and called upon, approving or disapproving requests for endorsements from a NPC individual or group during an election, and other related areas of gameplay.

Demi-God of Electoral Fate
This position, quite simply, is one tasked with the task both incredibly powerful and incredibly tedious and time consuming at points. They are in charge of grading campaigns at various levels of the game and providing polling and analysis, creating and/or maintaining election deadline calendars, creating and/or enforcing election rules and/or guidelines, and grading approval ratings when purchased by players or prior to a re-election campaign.

Demi-God in Training
This position is perhaps the most unique among the Demi-Gods, as it is the only one specifically reserved for those who have very little Administrative experience within the broad political and government simulation community, specifically less than one RL month of continuous service as an Admin on past major simulations including but not exlusively limited to: VGS, USGS, AGS, TAR, VUSA, Virtual Politics, Bruce Tedder's Capitol Hill.  This position has only one permanent area of focus in maintaining news coverage and legislative simulation for Governors, but is tasked with assisting all other various Demi-Gods in their respective duties and handling certain scenarios or areas aspects of the game at the discretion of The Chief in order to alleviate strain elsewhere. The central idea behind this is giving players who are younger or have gone overlooked at other communities that change to gain hands on Administrative experience and build a resume to help with future Administrative resumes either here or in other such games.

Administrative Code of Ethics
1. No Demi-God may rejoin the game as an active player outside of player-run media or the entrepeanuer system until 2 weeks (14 days) after their resignation or firing from the ranks of the Demi-Gods.
2. No player who has been a Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate of a major party or has recently resigned from the positions of President or Vice President may be permitted to be hired into the ranks of the Demi-Gods within 4 weeks (28 days) of the election date or resignation from their position.
3. No Demi-God is permitted to be a member of a Telegram chat dedicated to any of the individual IG political parties nor to post within the party war rooms on the game board for any reason other than to answer a direct question or fulfill the duties of their job. Violation of this will result in an immediate suspension of duties by no less than 3 days, and possible termination spending investigation.
4. Any Demi-God found giving direct assistance or beneficial/privileged information to a player, party, or campaign not otherwise available to the player base as a whole unless specifically part of their assigned duties or an approved scenario or system shall immediately be terminated from their position, barred from Demi-God eligibility for no less than 3 months, and shall face potential suspension from the game on a basis of severity of the violation.
5. All Demi-Gods, including The Chief, are required to report any direct complaint submitted to them regarding their own decisions or actions directly to rest of the ranks of the Demi-Gods shall immediately be terminated from their position, barred from Demi-God eligibility for no less than 3 months, and shall face potential suspension from the game on a basis of severity of the violation.

4. Telegram Policy

Like most political and government simulations, the primary messaging app utilized by Politics Revisited is "Telegram" due to both its superior ability to protect anonymity/privacy and through the ease of conformity with the broad community. However, it also poses some significant challenges to a game like this. As a result, it is policy in Politics Revisited that any IC communication that occurs on Telegram must take place in a chat where a Demi-God is present to to be considered part of the official game canon. No interaction on Telegram may be considered an official leak unless provided in the form of a timestamped screenshot which can be compared to one of the other party involved, failure of either party to comply will result in IC penalties.

5. Activity Limits and Character Limits

Real life always comes first, no matter what. However, in order to keep seats or position from being occupied from inactive players, we do have limits in place. A player who has not posted in 10 days if they are part of legislative leadership/the executive branch or 14 days otherwise without posting a leave of absence will be considered inactive and automatically signed out of the game. After this point, they have 7 days to reclaim their character with a penalty and forfeiture of any leadership position held.

Players are limited to just 1 character change per 2 years in the game's calendar, as well as an allowance of a single mulligan per round can be used at any point but can only be used once.
